Hello world!
I created this blog in hopes that women and mothers like myself may know that they are not alone. This is a safe place to be raw and real about the challenges we face in modern motherhood and womanhood. In 2024, the narrative around women’s equality has morphed in many ways to seem as if our former problems of inequality were solved many years ago. However many people have noticed our experiences as women have not really made the progress we hoped for during the women’s right to work movement or other movements. We are still way too often victims of poverty, domestic violence, sex trafficking, rape and abuse on the extreme end and on the lighter end we are never really treated as equals in many of our interactions but as second class citizens.
I want to be very clear that my experiences are from the perspective of a white woman raised in poverty. I want this to be a safe place to shine light on the experiences of woman from various ethic backgrounds. Feminism is intersectional and there are often levels to marginalization and oppression faced by individuals from varying backgrounds. No two experiences of inequality are the same and this is why it is important for all of us to speak up and end the silence that confines us to feelings of being unknown and misunderstood. We all have a voice, we all have unique experiences, it is time to tell our stories.
